Our Story

The Bagel Cafe is a family run business. Our bakery and cafe is in Leicester city centre and is along one of the main bus routes. We are only 5 minutes’ walk from the Highcross Shopping Mall and the Haymarket Shopping Centre.

We got the idea from when we were on holiday in Canada. We liked the bagels and wanted to have them here. When we looked in Leicester, we could not find anywhere that baked bagels from scratch, so we started our own bakery and cafe.

We do everything ourselves: from mixing the dough to baking the bagels to making your bagel in front of you. We also mix the cream cheeses ourselves. You can see us baking our bagels in our bakery and cafe.

We offer 14 types of fresh bagels and over 5 different cream cheese mixes. You can also choose your own sandwich filling from the world-famous cream cheese smoked salmon, all day breakfast filling and chicken, bacon, ham, roast beef and many others. This is only limited by your imagination.

We also believe in caring for the environment. All of our disposable drinks cups and food wrappers are compostable. Most of the equipment that we have has been pre-owned which has reduced our carbon footprint.
